Tuia ki te rangi, Tuia ki te whenua, Tuia ki te moana. E rongo te po, E rongo te ao. - It is written in the heavens, upon the land, and the ocean. And balanced between night and day.
This whakatauki represents our connection with te taiao. We exist as one not a seperate things. Our tupuna used to navigate through the environment, aligning what was happening in the heavens, sun, moon, stars and winds with that on the land, trees, plants, birds, ocean, tides and fish movement.
